IBSA Manufacturing is finalising training package projects for submission to the AISC for Manufacturing and Engineering, Aerospace and Laboratory Skills. Under IRC guidance, new training package components were developed with specialist advice from Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) members.

The Metals and Engineering (MEM) Training Package is now ready to submit 18 qualifications and 449 units to the AISC for endorsement. This represents Release 2 of the transition of this package to meet the 2012 Standards for Training Packages. This release removes a small number of duplicate units, provides information on industry expectations of training delivery and supports individuals to move easily between related occupations. New units and a Skills Set related to histotechnology were developed as part of a review of the Laboratory Operations (MSL) Training Package. The units allow for the inclusion of specialist skills in the Certificate IV Laboratory Techniques and the Diploma of Laboratory Technology. Further work includes grouping and identifying units into specialisations for Pathology, Chemistry, Construction, Food and Biotechnology. More information…

The review of the Aerospace (MEA) Training Package has resulted in closer alignment of the Certification IV in Aircraft Life Support with the needs of the Australian Defence Force. A further 4 qualifications and 5 units have been aligned with CASA compliance requirements. Cases for Endorsement will be submitted for AISC consideration in November and December and are expected to be available for delivery in 2018.
