IBSA Manufacturing participated in the Manufacturing and Design Conference (MaD2019) with CompeteNZ in Auckland last week. The conference explored the theme of ‘Future-proofing New Zealand’s Manufacturing and Design Economy’ with keynote speaker Göran Roos highlighting some of the challenges and opportunities faced by New Zealand’s manufacturing sector. Conference participants were challenged to consider the job roles affected by automation and the skills needed to make the sector globally competitive.
The New Zealand visit enabled us to build on the relationship and discuss opportunities for future collaboration with CompeteNZ the Industry Training Organisation (ITO) servicing the Engineering, Manufacturing and Textile, Apparel and Laundry sectors. IBSA also met with representatives from ServiceIQ and NZ Marine and Composites ITOs to discuss emerging skills needs across our respective sectors.
