IBSA has a long history of supporting the VET sector and skills development. In 2019, We sponsored two Skillaroos Josh Boon, Cabinetmaker, and Clinton Larkings, Industrial Mechanics Millwright, to compete in the 2019 WorldSkills Championships in Kazan, Russia.
Their skills helped Australia to finish 8th in the competition with Clinton achieving a silver medal alongside three other Australian bronze medal finalists in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Plumbing, and Vehicle Painting.
Young apprentices represent the future of workforce skills for the manufacturing industry, and both Josh and Clinton are clear examples of how skilled workers have a crucial role to play in Australia’s economic recovery in a post-covid-19 world.
