International delegations from Chile, Peru and Pakistan joined our Industry Reference Committee Chairs and members to showcase the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) system and its focus on industry engagement. IBSA Manufacturing hosted the event which included executives from TAFE Directors Australia, Australian Industry Standards and the Commonwealth’s Department of Education and Training.
Held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the event provided a practical insight into the Australian VET system and its structure. The sessions emphasised how engaging industry is central to all its activities.
- Adam Luckhurst, Commonwealth Department of Education and Training, provided an overview of the VET system and the current imperatives of the Australian Industry Skills Committee
- Sharon Robertson, IBSA CEO, detailing our work as a Skills Service Organisation
- Paul Walsh, Australian Industry Standards, who brought us insights into developing an occupational standards framework for use across countries.
The afternoon event concluded with lively interactive table discussions amongst the delegates, after which they participated in a tour of one of Australia’s iconic stadiums.
