The World Economic Forum Future of Jobs report makes interesting reading. The Australian country profile indicates that emerging job roles include Assembly and Factory Workers and 87% of companies are likely to be automating work.
The manufacturing perspective is covered in the Chemistry/Advanced Materials, Oil & Gas and Aerospace industry profiles. The adoption of new technology is seen as a major trend affecting all the industries, with skill gaps being a major barrier to new technology adoption.
This Skills Outlook for 2022 highlights the need for active learning, creativity and analytical skills. Skills that the report feel will be on the decline by 2022 include the classic Reading, Writing, Maths skills as well as dexterity, spatial ability and technology installation.
