IBSA Group is working with the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) COVID-19 Emergency Response Sub-committee to help the national training system rapidly respond to critical workforce needs.

As part of the national COVID-19 response, we are developing resources to support the delivery of a new skill set: COVID-19 Critical Skills Point of Care Testing, which includes the following units:

    1. MSL974030 Process body fluid specimens using a point of care testing device (available early June 2020)
Point of care testing for COVID-19 diagnosis
    2. HLTPAP003 Perform capillary blood collections (available early July 2020)
      Testing for after diagnosis care

The resources are expected to be freely available to RTOs for at least six months and will include:

  • online resources with links to videos covering key topics
  • a facilitator implementation and assessment guide
  • printed workbooks.

Although eLearning resources will be locked, facilitators’ resources can be adapted as required.

Progress Updates

June 2020
The Point of Care Testing project team has developed content for MSL974030 Process body fluid specimens using a point of care testing device – point of care testing for COVID-19 diagnosis. The content is currently being reviewed by our subject matter experts, including representatives from TAFE NSW.

Once the resources have undergone user testing and have Commonwealth approval, IBSA Group will make them available to relevant stakeholders. Further detailed information regarding resource access will be provided in the second week of June.
