IBSA Manufacturing is pleased to support the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear Industry Reference Committee (IRC) to undertake the Buying Skills in Fashion and Textiles Project.
The Textiles, Clothing & Footwear IRC identified there was an industry need to develop further key skills in buying to ensure graduates are ‘job ready’. This will involve a review of the Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Applied Fashion and Merchandising, with particular focus on changes required to meet industry needs, including:
- The potential development of additional buying related units and skill set covering costing, sourcing, managing external supply chains, and utilising software packages to communicate and manage key order information
- A review of existing buying related units of competency and enrolments
- The addition of a buying specific unit to the qualification core
- A review of key foundation skills, performance and knowledge evidence required for a graduate in a buying capacity
Please read the Case for Change for more information on the training package components to be modified as well as the research undertaken to support this project.
It is anticipated that this project will be completed by December 2018.
IBSA Manufacturing, in consultation with the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear IRC, will establish a technical advisory committee (TAC) to provide specific subject matter advice and technical expertise for the development and review of the training package components.
The TAC operates under the direction of the IRC and will comprise of organisations and nominated individuals with significant expertise and knowledge working within the industry.
