IBSA was delighted to attend the 24th annual Australian Training Awards presentation dinner in Canberra on 23 November 2017.
The Australian Training Awards are the peak, national awards for the vocational education and training (VET) sector, and celebrate the outstanding contribution of VET graduates, training providers and employers to skilling Australia.
State finalists were selected over preceding months from a pool of over four million students enrolled in nationally recognised training courses across more than 4200 training providers. Winners were awarded in 18 categories.
The most anticipated award, Australian Apprentice of the Year, went to Queensland diesel fitter Gemma Hartwig. Ms Hartwig, who studied a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Maintenance – Diesel Fitting), said she hoped to use her win to encourage others to consider VET. You can watch Gemma being interviewed about her chosen career path here.
The high caliber of finalists and the robust competition highlight the quality of Australia’s national VET system.
IBSA congratulates all winners and participants in this prestigious event.
